Pastor David J. Thompson

Pastor ThonmpsonDave was born in Mankato, Minnesota on April 26, 1975. To find work, his family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1981. He grew up in Sioux Falls. After completing high school he attended and graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute for Electrical Construction and Maintenance. He went on to work as an apprentice electrician.

During his second year of apprenticeship, Dave received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. From that point his life took on a new meaning and purpose. After finishing his apprenticeship, Bro. Dave began work as a Journeyman electrician. In time he began his own electrical contracting business to give him more flexibility in his involvement in serving the Lord. His business has been built on solid Biblical principles and has become very successful. Over the years He has been able to give employment to numerous Christian young men.

After salvation he began attending Empire Baptist Temple and was baptized into the membership. He soon began taking courses at Great Plains Baptist Divinity School. Over the next 6 years, he earned first a Bachelor of Theology Degree and then a Master of Divinity Degree.

At Empire he met and married his wife, Deanna, in 2002. The Lord has blessed them with four children: Luke, Cailyn, Emma and Maddie. The Thompsons have been faithfully serving the Lord throughout their marriage. They have been Sunday school teachers, worked in the Christian school ministry, and currently lead the church’s youth ministry. Bro. Thompson has been very active in chaplain ministries overseeing a team of preachers at the county jail each week and spending time ministering in the state prison system. He has spent many hours doing chaplain work with the Civil Air Patrol. He has also served Empire Baptist Temple as a treasurer and a deacon.

As the Lord has been leading Empire Baptist Temple to begin a new church in Brookings, He has been leading Bro. Thompson that the next step in ministry for him is to become a part of the pastoral team at Brookings Baptist Church. The Thompsons are surrendered to whatever the Lord has for them as the ministry in Brookings grows.
